Wood Fire Effects in the Gas Kiln Take #2
This will be a short post.
I've done some more tests, applied it to larger forms and used a lot more ash than the previous firing. Needles to say I am very pleased with the two pieces.
I did the same as before. Glazed the pieces then laid them carefully on their side on top of shells with wadding between the shell and clay carpet protecting the kiln shelf. However, this time I applied A LOT of ash. The places where the ash was the thickest left a black crusty layer which is my favourite part of the pieces.
I think these two pieces might be my favourite of everything I've made to date.
